Marine — a pool area built around the view

West Van backyards have one thing you’re always working around: the view. Build too high, block it. Build wrong, and you’re staring at concrete instead of the water.

The Marine project was about carving up the yard so every part earned its spot. A modern pool area to anchor it. A dedicated hot tub space set apart from the main pool, so the two don’t fight each other. And a garden gazebo to give the whole thing somewhere to sit when the sun’s doing too much.

It’s a leisure space, top to bottom — but leisure spaces only feel effortless when the hard structure underneath them is right. That’s the part you don’t notice, which is exactly the point.
