Questions we actually get

What does a concrete or renovation project cost?

It depends, and anyone who quotes you a number over the phone is guessing. Architectural concrete especially is nowhere near as simple as "a driveway" or "some stairs" — the price moves with the site, the access, the finish, and what we find once we start. The bigger cost drivers are usually access (can a truck get near the pour), what's already there (demo, excavation, and whatever's under the existing slab), forming complexity, finish, and drainage and grade. That's why we come look before we quote. It's not a sales tactic — it's the only way to give you a number that's real.

Why won't you give a quote sight-unseen?

Because the real job is usually the part you can't see in a photo — the base, the drainage, what's under the old concrete. We'd rather spend twenty minutes on site and give you a number we'll stand behind than throw out a guess that changes the moment we start digging.

Is there a minimum job size?

Not a hard one in our core areas — North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Vancouver. We do high-end feature builds and we do smaller, achievable jobs, and we're happy to talk about either. Further out — Squamish, Whistler, the Tri-Cities — the job needs to be big enough to justify the travel. If you're not sure, just ask.

Where do you work?

We're based on the North Shore. Most of our work is in North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Vancouver. We also take projects in Burnaby, Coquitlam, Squamish and Whistler when the scope justifies the drive. Not sure if you're in range? Send us the location and we'll tell you.

How long does a project take?

Every job is different, so we won't pretend there's a standard timeline — a front walkway and a sunken-pool build aren't remotely the same. What we can tell you is that we don't rush concrete. It cures on its own schedule, and pushing it is how you get problems later. We'll give you a realistic timeline once we've seen the job.

Can concrete be poured in the rain?

Vancouver being Vancouver, this comes up a lot. Short answer: light rain is usually workable with the right prep and protection; heavy rain during the pour or the early cure isn't worth the risk to the finish and the strength. We plan around the forecast rather than fight it — better to move a day than compromise a slab that's meant to last decades.

Do you only do concrete?

No. Concrete is what we're known for, but we do full home renovations too — bathrooms, kitchens, basements, whole-home. Same crew, same standard. The concrete background is the difference: we understand what's holding your house up and where the water's going.

Can you repair existing concrete instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. Spalled steps, a cracked path, a tired entrance — sometimes it's a repair, not a teardown. Send photos and we'll tell you honestly which one it is.
