Capilano — pool house, mechanical room, one clean unit

Most people want the mechanical room hidden. Tuck it behind something, pretend the pump and the heater don’t exist. That’s one way to do it.
We went the other way. We integrated the pool house and the mechanical room into a single minimalist unit — one clean volume that does both jobs and doesn’t apologise for either. Added an outdoor shower off the side, and ran thermally-treated decking around it so the whole thing reads as one considered piece rather than a building with a utility closet stuck on.
The concrete does the heavy lifting here: it’s the structure, the finish, and the reason it looks calm instead of busy. On a Capilano lot, where the houses are quiet and modern, that mattered.
